ClimTip Workshop: Climate Scientists and Activists in Dialogue

Climate activists and young people meet scientists to share concerns, exchange ideas and explore ways to effectively communicate the risks of climate tipping points in an interactive, informal conversation.

As our planet continues to warm, some scientists warn that we may be approaching climate tipping points - irreversible changes in Earth system components such as tropical rainforests, ice sheets or Atlantic ocean circulation systems. But what do we really know? What should we do with this knowledge? And how do we communicate urgency without despairing?

This is not another lecture. It is an interactive, informal conversation where you can share concerns, ask questions, challenge ideas and explore ways to effectively communicate the risks of climate tipping points.

March 27, 19:00–21:00 CET

How close are we to climate tipping points?

With: Prof. Dr. Niklas Boers and Dr. Sebastian Bathiany (ClimTip, Technical University of Munich)

Location: Barrio Olga Benario, Schliersee Str. 21, 81541 Munich

Language: German (see below for the poster in German)

Be part of this important discussion. Whether you are a climate activist, a young person worried about the future, or a student who wants to learn more about this topic – your voice matters.

What's on the agenda?

  • A short talk on the latest science on climate tipping points (Amazon rainforest, Atlantic Ocean circulation, polar ice sheets).
  • An open, two-way dialogue where scientists and activists ask each other questions and share perspectives.
  • A group discussion on risk perception, communication and action.
